The Floor Robot Vacuum Cleaner - A Real Time Saver

The Floor Robot Vacuum Cleaner - A Real Time Saver
By Ned D'Agostino

Are you tired of vacuuming your floors and carpets every day? You might want to consider a floor robot vacuum cleaner to help you on those days that vacuuming just isn't going to fit into your schedule.

This style of vacuum cleaner is unique in that it works by itself with simply one touch of a button from you. There is at least one model on the market that will turn on without you even being in the house. Using the Internet, the robot vacuum can be activated when you are in a completely different location. This small, round vacuum cleaner can be programmed to clean your carpets or floors at a certain time of the day without your help.

The robot vacuums use sensors to detect dirt and grime on your carpets or floors. If it senses more dirt in one area, it will spend more time cleaning that area. Typically, this type of vacuum will randomly go over the entire area four times to make sure it is clear of debris, dust and lint. Probably the greatest feature of this type of vacuum cleaner is that it can fit underneath the furniture and the beds.

Different models of the robot vacuum use ultrasound technology or sensors to avoid bumping into walls, the pet water bowl, or furniture. A few of the less expensive models only stop when they bump into an object, which could be your couch or your wood baseboards, and can scratch furniture or walls over time. It's best to purchase one outfitted with rubber bumpers to reduce possible damage to your home.

Are these robot vacuums able to get your home as clean as a traditional upright or canister vacuum? Despite the fact there are models that have a built-in brush that is supposed to clean along the edge of the wall, this robot cleaner doesn't effectively clean corners or areas around plants, the toilet, etc. You'll still need to perform detail cleaning every now and then in addition to the robot vacuum cleaning the high traffic areas.

This style of vacuum cannot negotiate stairs, so those are still yours to clean. Also, if you have fringed rugs, it's a good idea to remove them if possible, or the robot vacuum may get stuck on the fringe and need rescued.

This type of vacuum will work on carpets, wood or tile floors and are designed to clean up not only dirt, debris, and lint, but pet hair and small spills as well.

At least one of the models is programmed to "know" when it needs to be recharged and will return to its base by itself to recharge. These vacuums range in price from very affordable to somewhat pricey, so there is a style for everyone.

The robot vacuums can be a real time saver, provided you have the time for it to do its work. If you know you have surprise guests arriving in 15 minutes, this type of vacuum isn't the most time efficient. However, if you are going to be at work all day, it is the perfect solution for maintaining high traffic areas. Just turn it on before you leave and come home to clean floors.

You'll still need to empty the floor robot vacuum cleaner so it is ready for its next job. The advantages to this type of vacuum is that it is small, operates on its own, and does a pretty good job of cleaning, without much effort on your part.

P3 P4920 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner

Amazon.com Product Description
For those who do not love the chore of sweeping up everyday crumbs on the kitchen floor, soccer-cleat dirt by the front entryway, or kitty litter that somehow makes its way half way down the hall, this robotic vacuum cleaner comes in handy.

The unit effectively cleans wood and tile floors throughout the house, and can even be used on carpet (it works best on low-pile carpeting). For bare-floor surfaces, simply attach the included electrostatic paper to the bottom of the cleaner, and it takes care of the rest. The vacuum moves around on its own, getting itself in and out of tight places, and its built-in smart technology automatically determines one of three preprogrammed patterns: Random mode for tight spaces like under furniture, Spiral mode for large open areas, and Along The Wall mode for cleaning the perimeters of a room.

Power indicator lights on the front of the unit display battery levels during charging and sweeping. Twelve rechargeable Ni-Cd AA batteries come included, offering up to 45 minutes of run-time before needing to be recharged with the included AC adapter.

Other highlights include an easy-to-empty internal dustbin, whisper-quiet operation, smooth-rolling wheels, and a bumper to protect table legs and baseboards. Ideal for any size room, the robotic vacuum cleaner measures 11-1/2 by 11 by 4 inches and carries a six-month limited warranty.
